Job Title: Schools Program Coordinator
Location: Kamloops, BC
Reports to: Area Manager, Kamloops
Status: Temporary Part-time (approximately 25 hours per week)
Start Date: April 7th to July 3rd, 2015

Job Summary

In this role, you will raise funds in local schools through activity based programs. This will be accomplished through your leadership in working with key school representatives/teachers in targeted, local schools to deliver our Jump Rope for Heart (grades K-6) and Hoops for Heart (grades 4-8) fundraising programs.You will report to the Area Manager who is responsible for all community fund raising initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Overall responsibility is to meet event and revenue and sales goals in the Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart events during the current school year.

Planning and organizing:

  • Work with the Area Manager to develop a School fundraising activity plan
  • Identify and assess opportunities to increase fundraising revenues
  • Ensure schools receive necessary event materials
  • Develop and deliver Kick Off assemblies. Organize Demo Team schedules.
  • Provide ongoing updates on action plan deliverables, issues and/or changes
  • Identify new schools and further promote the school based programs

Teamwork and Coaching Others:

  • Recruitment, retention, recognition and training of volunteers to support the delivery of School Programs
  • Identifies, trains and motivates event site coordinators, kick off assembly ambassadors, School Programs office volunteers and demo team coaches/managers
  • As part of the Kamloops area office team, assists in answering phones, taking donation calls and interfacing with the public
  • Participates in training sessions, conference calls and weekly meetings

Customer Service

  • Through personal visits, phone calls and presentations, proactively identifies new schools to participate in the programs
  • Deepens relationships with existing schools by providing consistent, prompt response to school inquiries
  • Provides engaging, motivating kick off assemblies, and attends event days and demo team events as appropriate
  • Provides recognition of event coordinators and schools through banner presentations

Detail and Accuracy

  • Ensures schools are registered and necessary forms are complete
  • Oversees and manages revenue and associated reports for on-line fund raising.
  • Maintains accurate records of all event activities and office inventory
  • Oversees the administration of Heart Smart Points Orders
  • Ensures all registration materials and Thank You Prize orders are placed and tracked for shipping and receiving
  • Prepares weekly and monthly status reports
  • Works with the Area Administrator to count, bank and receipt all revenue according to policy guidelines

Skills and Qualifications Include:

  • Experience in a related field (sales/marketing/fund development)
  • Excellent sales skills with the ability to promote and sell ideas and programs
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel)
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Contributes effectively in a team environment
  • Experience in coaching and leading teams
  • Strong community connections
  • Valid Driver's license and access to a vehicle
