A perfect storm
The Heart and Stroke Foundation's 2010 Annual Report on Canadians' Health warns that a "perfect storm" of risk factors and demographic changes are converging to create an unprecedented burden on Canada's fragmented system of cardiovascular care, and no Canadian – young or old – will be left unaffected. Find out if you are you at risk and how your province ranked with our interactive map.
Warning: trans fat kills
Artificial trans fats preserve food but are extremely harmful to our heart health. Some food companies have taken strides in eliminating artificial trans fats – while others have not. Unfortunately, too many products continue to contain disturbingly high amounts of these fats – especially bakery products that children eat most often such as cakes, donuts and brownies. It’s time the federal government regulate the use of trans fat. Use our advocacy letter to send a strong message to the government today.
